Use of Advantage® Products on Ferrets
Advantage® and AdvantageMulti® are not labeled for use on ferrets but have been used on ferrets with no adverse effects. Most veterinarians recommend using 1/2 tube of the 0-9 lbs. feline Advantage® or the 0.4ml tube of feline AdvantageMulti® on ferrets every 30 days. They are applied by parting the hair high on the back of the neck and putting the liquid directly on the skin. Within 12 hours of application all fleas should be dead and the product should remain effective for 30 days. Ferrets should not be bathed for 24 hours after applying these products. Some ferrets may experience temporary skin irritation at the site of application. AdvantageMulti® also provides heartworm prevention and ferrets are susceptible to heartworm infection.
It must be understood that this is "extra-label" use and neither 303 Animal Clinic nor Bayer Animal Health offer any warranty or guarantee when using these products on animals other than dogs and cats.
